Ukulele Dave gets Residents Dancing - Canal Vue, Ilkeston

The ubiquitous Ukulele rouses residents from their chairs ;

.................as Dave gets strumming.

We are fortunate to have so much space to do dancing, in the large Canal Vue reception/lounge, not everyone is as lucky as we are!

The ladies make the most of the event and the space .....

Some lesser known facts.....

The ukulele  is a member of the lute family of instruments; with a total of six or eight strings. It originated in the 19th century as a Hawaiian adaptation of the machete, a small guitar-like instrument, which was introduced by Portuguese immigrants.  It gained great popularity elsewhere in the US during the early 20th century and from there spread internationally.

All can have a go as this gent proves,

Resident Cyril is enjoying the occasion and eventually carer Kayleigh partners him for a dance.

Linda, our lovely kitchen assistant donated this lovely
snow scene to our home at Canal Vue
