Nottingham Residents News from Eastgate Care

Activities Galore at Melbourne

A whole range of pastimes have been 'going on' at Melbourne House ............................

Not to be daunted by the wet weather, volunteer flower  arranger Jan Hayes visits to help the residents prepare some table decorations for Easter. Pictured below resident Irene with her display.

Exercise bands are not just for the youngsters! Amazing what you can do with chair exercises and the help of instructor Ross who came to inspire........

Music is very popular at Melbourne and this singer Amy Bird from bluebell entertainment, especially so. The residents loved it as she mingled in and seemed to be singing individually to each and every one of them. The 1940's costume was fab too and added to the spectacle.

Music and dance gives the best of both worlds - uplifting and some movement too.  Staff get involved and enjoy it too. Carer Jeana helps residents to 'get dancin' (she is a bit of a rock n roll queen in her spare time!)

Residents Create Christmas Cards

Inspiration came from Melbourne's Activity Coordinator Trayce Pullen and The Sherwood Press Group for this recent creative activity;

Residents showed  their flare and skill as they got together with Sherwood Press to make their own Christmas Cards.

Head Designer from the Sherwood Press Group selected his favourite designs whilst creative leader Anna provided motivation and creativity. Pictured Above; Residents and staff get creative with Anna of Sherwood Press, resident Marjorie, Trayce Pullen - Activity Co-ordinator, resident Jean, Gillian (friend of Melbourne House) resident Ivy

The best designs were selected to go to print and be packaged for sale in order to raise money for the residents fund. As well as giving their time and skills, all materials were donated by the Sherwood Group, we thank them for their generosity.

Cards are on sale now at Melbourne House. Pictured the chosen designs

All the Fun of the Fair in Ilkeston

Residents got 'out and about recently' and visited the Charter Fair in Ilkeston Market Place

Violet Patricia and Sylvia partake if typical fare food and enjoy  tucking into hot dogs, whilst watching the rides. They remember their friends back at Canal Vue and take candy floss for them.

Violet,  with the help of carer Senga sampled all the joys of the fair such as Hook a Duck which was challenging and popular.

Pictured, Volunteer Georgia May, on work experience, with resident Patricia, making the most of the Charter Fare.

 A brisk walk back to Canal Vue, with a little break at the coffee shop, finishes the local trip off. . '

'Its good to get out in the local community and see what is going on and the residents love it too!' said activities co-ordinator Megan White, who arranged the visit.
