Staff put in a lot of effort for this annual 'fest' in Aspley.

Pauline, Administration Manager , did well raising money on the Tombola.

A total of £300's was raised for the Residents fund - didnt they do well!

Activities Coordinator, Trayce, who helped organise the fare did a grand job with the raffle, helping to boost funds.

Singer Amy Bird delighted all those who heard her lovely voice as she sang to all, she really was well appreciated.

The lovely friendly Melbourne House staff who helped make this event happen.

Theres always lots of activities at Melbourne House, but residents do like it when all the visitors come along to their home & of course the marvellous singing.

Accolades received  -

on Good Morning Britain - a feature on Nursing Homes

One of our relatives took the trouble to phone to praise Melbourne House and the staff within the home and to get her point over....'that NOT all homes are bad and certainly not Melbourne House' That is so good to hear, we are very pleased.

& Further thanks were received from a local Academy ……….

……for offering a student placement recently by Care Home Manager, Kate Wilson;
I have received fantastic feedback from  our student about the time they spent with you. Thank you for taking the time to support her, many of our students who attended a work experience placement returned with a more positive, mature and focussed approach to their studies.
As an Academy we feel that work experience is an extremely valuable opportunity for our students and this wouldn't be possible without the offer of placements from companies and organisations such as Melbourne House. Thank you for your support

Care Home Manager, Kate Wilson felt,  'it was good to get the participation of the relatives and the residents love all the activity. It was a shame we didnt have the best weather this year.'

Thank you goes to all the kind people & local businesses that donated prizes and produce, making this a worthy event at Melbourne House.

The sun shone on Alex House, the grounds were full of visitors from the surrounding area, along with lots and lots of residents family and friends.

Get the bunting out - record crowds gathered for the popular summer fair, we can see why, with lots of varied entertainment and activities.

The mayor and deputy mayor opened the event and spent the whole afternoon with us, joining in with the day's activities.

Debbie - Activities Coordinator is a real asset and as well as great activities she emanates warmth, fun and understanding and is  building strong links with the local community in Eastwood, reflected in this great event.

Resident Derek, with his grandson, very happy after winning a raffle prize.

Great that family and friends could join in with the days activities.

We were entertained by three Belly dancers............wow what a show they put on. All the audience clapping along with them.

Singer Kiera played guitar and sang lots of lovely songs from the Beetles to Judy Garland. John our favourite singing cowboy sang some lovely folk songs

It was all happening; BBQ, Hook a duck, singing, guessing the weight of the cake.

The tombola was taken care of by Rita and Wendy, the daughters of our resident Ella, they said, 'they have never seen the place so busy.'

A special cake was made by Anne, the deputy manager, and won by a local resident.

They are certainly good at baking cakes at Alex and the cake stall helped to boost the funds raised.

A Platinum wedding Anniversary is celebrated on our National Care Home Day with a special exclusive lunch planned for our  couple (70 Years) Joan and Cyril, and later tea with all their friends at Canal Vue and the popular entertainer, Banjo Man (at 2pm.) and a visit from the Mayor.

Residents get busy as flower arranging involves preparing and selecting - the ladies really concentrtate and are pleased with their productivity and gentleman too.

Managing Director of Eastgate Care, Janine Morgan said ‘Friendship at our care homes is one of the key elements that enables us to develop relationships and work together as a team and as friends and carers of our residents. Friendship is the theme for this year’s National Care Home Day, it is good to emphasise the importance of this part of care, to acknowledge the work of care homes throughout the UK and the dedication of staff offering their special support. Our support of the Spondon Dynamos highlights how intergenerational rapport can bring benefits all round’
