Fun of the Fare in Ilkeston

A great day out at the Ilkeston fare for Canal Vue residents, sampling almost all the accoutrements;

Nothing like sharing a cuppa at The John Warren

Happy residents and carers enjoying the fun of the fare. Listening to the music from the Waltzers, all the residents had a marvellous time, a great atmosphere and lots happening.

 Residents on the visit were: Marilyn, Winnifred, Anthony, Joyce and  Mary.

Staff accompanying them: Kayleigh, Paul, Louise, Zoe,  Andrew.

Hot dogs, cups of steaming tea and of course the Cakewalk, dont think we quite managed the latter...............

Nothing like 'hook a duck' to make you feel a part of the fare!

Winter Seaside Creativity with City Arts Nottingham

Nottinghams City Arts hosted a great 'Be beside the Seaside' crafty day at their quarters in Hockley Nottingham;

Our residents really enjoyed the creative experience afforded them as they concentrated on their creations, forgetting about the awful weather outside.

All materials were supplied and the staff were so helpful and understanding, they bought out our artistic skills.

We had a great time reminiscing too about seaside pastimes.

Clive from Park House, Bulwell, putting his seaside memories into a picture.

Proud of having created an abstract picture.

 We all enjoyed it, the whole day was a great success and we would like to thank City Arts for sharing their facilities and skills with us. Said Eastgate's Head of Recreation, Andrew Good

This project has been created for the Imagine: Arts and Older People programme, one of only four arts projects in the country to be awarded money from Arts Council England and The Baring Foundation’s Arts and older people in care fund.

Pretty Creepy at Canal Vue ..........

Canal Vue staff pulled out the stoppers to compete in the Halloween Hell. They are reknowned for their dressing up antics, but looked far too attractive to win the top prize ...............

Abbie and Leah look charming in their outfits.

Lots of Halloween decor helped create atmosphere.....

Kayleigh wins the cheekiness 'stake'

Carol Martin and Claire Edwards not at all creepy!

Everyone participated so well, staff and residents too and it made for a very exciting day at Canal Vue's Halloween extravaganza.

Activity Coordinator Abbie and staff members worked really hard to make this a memorable occasion for the residents at Canal Vue

.Below our two lady residents surrounded by window decorations

Below a spooky table 'set'

& Canal Vue in more tranquil times.....

Top prize for make up goes to Paula Kimberley

....Competing for Scariness

Staff and Residents at Eastwood joined in the Eastgate eeriness 'stakes'!

Staff member Sarah Hill, gave a lovely smile and is not at all scary.....unlike her colleagues..

Alexandra House did a wonderful job of dressing up and it was a very close competition between Park and Alex House for who could be the scarriest, they all made such an effort.

....

...........scary colleagues Anne Soar and below left Carrie Cauldwell, they're lovely really!

It was great to have the children along, naturally they like dressing up too, which is lovely for the elderley residents to see.

Well done to all particants

Halloween Hell at Park House Bulwell

A hellish competition between our care homes for halloween really brought out the costumes, as staff and residents love to dress up - some creepy & some funny stuff too;

Above resident Jane Rigby looks the part and commanded head of table at the lunch, great to see the participation and involvement of staff and residents.

The Halloween competition run throughout all the homes was won by Park house

Lots of fun was had by all, with spooky themed lunch and tea and haunted fun games. Staff dressed specially for the occasion, with some scary guises

Caroline Downing won the homes best dressed spookster below. Pictured left is cape man (Hospitality Manager) - Johnathan Horwood not looking so inviting here and also left is frighteningly glamourous Activities Coordinator - Karen Law, a major contribuotor to the days skull duggery.

Pumpkin Man (staff member Eric Moise) above is looking a bit heady I'm sure you will agree.

Staff Anne Davis and Michelle Stevenson are certainly dressed to kill!

Diane Good - Park House Chef, made some delightful cakes, she also made witches semolina which was bright green and prepared other spooky dishes for our residents, finishing with finger and spider cake.

Our masked resident is Dorothy Clarke, sitting in front of the much decorated windows -   i dont know what anyone would've thought looking in? - probably the best Halloween Party in Bulwell!

Final horribly scary shot of Recreation Manager -  Andrew Good and that heady Eric the pumpkin!
