Park House Care Home resident Derek Marshall recently expressed what it meant to him to now be able to receive visitors after so long in lockdown.
I’m so happy, so happy, what more is there to say.
My daughter and my granddaughter visited me today.
They brought me so, so many gifts, where do I start?
And every time I see them, they bring so much happiness to this old heart.
Now I’ve just learned that’s it’s fish and chips for tea!
My heart is just overflowing with so much joy I’m as happy as can be.
Staying here is not so bad, I’m beginning to see.
And there’s so many, many, wonderful people, looking after me.
Nothing is too much trouble for them, and they’re beginning to know my funny ways.
So staying here is wonderful, and I’m enjoying all my days.
So my thanks to everyone here, I’m so happy and I want everyone to know it.
That I’m sharing my joy, in the way that I know best, because I’m the Resident Poet.
Derek Marshall is a published poet, and a local preacher, his book titled Preaching in Verse can be found in Waterstones, Amazon and Morleys and many others online.
Watch this space, Derek is currently working on his second book.
