Park House Care Home’s resident poet Mr Derek Marshall has been so happy to receive a new writing desk that he wrote a poem about it.
Well I’ve got a table in my room and now I’m so, so very happy.
Your Resident Poet is such a happy man, in fact, he’s a happy chappy.
No longer papers on my bed, or spread out on the floor.
This is so wonderful, like the name plate on my door.
I can now sit and write and pass the hours away.
I’m so, so happy, what more is there to say?
So today, you’ve really cheered me up, I’m really, really, over the moon.
So you will pleased to hear, that my next poetry book will be out there very soon.
Not just a complainer and a moaner, all of the time, and when I’m so happy, I still send you a little rhyme.
The happy Resident Poet
Sarah Massey, Care Home Manager at Park House, says: “What a lovely poem, and a lovely way to let us know he is happy. As a writer Derek really did need a writing desk, a place where he could immerse himself in his writing creativity. It’s so nice to learn this has made a real difference and had a positive impact on Derek. We’re all looking forward to his next book!”
